Adapt...

All mobile phone manufacturers have agreed to a common standard for chargers. What about laptops? My Toshiba runs at 19v - why? Nothing else in the world runs at that voltage. It must be a ploy to make you buy one of their own replacements, at £70-£80 a go. Not all the connectors are compatible with each other, so we need the mobile phone approach: standardisation.
And as an aside, why does my laptop battery give up after .45 minutes, and why does it overheat and shut down after 1 hour?

UK Coalition Government

First thoughts - excellent. My problem with Labour was not only the policies, but the people. I just didn't like them. With the new government I have a completely different attitude. They've started off with smiles on their faces, very relaxed; they look as if they may enjoy themselves. No doubt there will be grief ahead, but for the moment...
I have to admit though, that I am a Liberal Democrat, so an element of bias may show through!
